Scheduled Windows Operating System (OS) Maintenance affecting Banner, Axiom & BDM Jan 14, 2026 23:00 - Jan 15, 2026 07:00 EST

GGC's Banner host will perform Windows Operating System (OS) maintenance this Wednesday, January 14th.

Upgrade Window:
Starts: Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 11:00 p.m.
Ends: Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 7:00 a.m.

During this time, Banner, Axiom, and Banner Document Management (BDM) services will be unavailable. We recommend planning accordingly and appreciate your patience as these important updates are completed.

Resolved - USG has repaired the secondary fiber path which makes GGC's Internet fully redundant once again. We will now close this incident.

Monitoring - USG's fiber provider was able to repair the cut fiber path and has restored the PeachNet Internet connection. All services are operational again. We are monitoring for stability.

Update - USG provided an update that they expect the outage to last another 2-3 hours. While there has been some service restoration for other circuits, GGC's circuit is still being repaired.

Update - USG provided an update to GGC that the Internet service outage is due to two unrelated fiber cuts in the primary and secondary pathways. Estimated time to restoration is unknown but there are crews working to fix each fiber cut to restore service as soon as possible.

Identified - USG is working to restore service. There is a known fiber cut along our pathway. This outage will affect many systems and the ability for users to connect to services outside of GGC while on campus.

Resolved - This incident has been resolved.

Monitoring - The cause of the issue was found to be a defect in the replication feature between the primary and secondary phone system. Unfortunately, voicemails and PINs were not syncing between the systems. We were able to reset PINs to the pre-upgrade values; however the voicemails were not recovered. Voicemails between 10/5/2025 and 12/30/2025 were not replicated, so some mailboxes will show very old messages when accessed. Voicemails left after 12/30 should be available for users.

IT will work with users on a case by case basis, so please contact the Help Desk if you have any issues.

Investigating - On December 30, 2025, Information Technology (IT) completed an upgrade to the GGC desk phone system. While the upgrade appeared to be successful, we have identified some issues affecting the voicemail system such as voicemail PIN numbers no longer working and older voicemails reappearing. IT is working with our phone system vendor on a solution with the goal of minimizing campus impact.
